Prosessen lever videre

Seks uker, fem studenter, fire unike konsepter

Circular Showcase | “Us vs. Climate Change”

Is it possible to develop local solutions to the world’s largest climate challenge in just three months? That was our ambition when “us vs. climate change” started in autumn 2018. Together with FOLK Oslo and Sandkassa we have facilitated and tested a brand new innovation process. Read about the results of the “dugnad” and judge for yourself. The project was solved by six student teams from Emergence School of Leadership – in close collaboration with six client organizations + a bunch of special advisors and resource organizations:

  • Ikea
  • Miljødirektoratet
  • Europris
  • Days Like This
  • LOKAL
  • Stor-Oslo Eiendom
  • Virke
  • Circular Norway
  • Ny Analyse
  • Fortum

Dear New Student — A Message To You

Through our one year education we empower young talent to create the change they want to see in the world. One project at the time.

At Emergence School of Leadership we have worked with 16 teams of students for the past 14 years. This year, as always, we’re getting closer and closer to the application deadline in April. We are looking for dedicated and passionate young leaders, problem solvers, change agents, dreamers, thinkers and doers.

Here’s a message to you, from all of us. Check out the video with one of team 14’s students, Andrea, below.

Insight for a better digital solution

A few months back we received funding from the Educational Department of Norway to create and implement a digital solution, looking at how we could make our program more seamless and available to more than just our own students. Read more about it here.

Diving into a learning journey about The Future of Education, how technology can play a part in learning, and meeting and talking to developers, and companies offering learning management systems, we ended up on a bigger learning journey to San Francisco, together with Katapult Future Fest. Read more about our trip here.

Back in Oslo we’ve continued learning and exploring how we in the best way possible can create a system, not only for our students, but for everyone out there that needs guidance in how to succeed with a project. We belive we can help impactmakers develop their ideas and projects, being part of creating sustainable solutions to problems we’re facing, not only in Oslo and Norway, but globally.

Before getting to deep into developing our solution we asked a group of former students at Emergence School of Leadership to help us answer to some of our greatest assumptions, test different ways of building the platform, the look and feel of it and different ways of learning.
This was very useful and we’re left with loads of new insights and learnings, ready to develop our ideas further!

Thanks to everyone taking part! We’re looking forward to inviting you in again to test the first prototype!

Emergence Refill | a knowledge series

Emergence Refill was started up in the summer of 2017 to look at how Emergence as a knowledge Hub can share our knowledge, not only with the 28 students that are at the school, but with our growing network of alumni and other partners and collaborators. The day-to-day staff at Emergence School of Leadership and our amazing group of industry specialists that teaches at the school (see and read more about them here) holds interesting perspectives and knowledge that we think more than just our students can benefit from. There’s also been a need for a space where the Emergence network can meet, mingle and talk about the challenges, thoughts and experiences they are facing. For all these reasons we decided to create Emergence Refill!

The event series is divided between morning and night events, all hosted at our favourite hangout Skippergata 22.

On Wednesday we hosted our first ever Refill Night with principal at Emergence School of Leadership, Thomas Helgø. He talked on why the role as a project manager is more relevant and important than ever, giving our alumni network a closer look into how the methodology of the school is in constant change and the steps needed today to create interesting, sustainable and successful projects.

Over 50 x-Emergence students attended and all helped shape and contribute with ideas to how we should develop the Refill concept further.

Thank you all for coming — and see you soon for Refill Morning! Next event will be open for our extended network and friends, so feel free to bring along someone you think would be interested! Follow our Facebook page Emergence School of Leadership for info on the next event.

Creating good spaces for learning

Emergence School of Leadership has over the 14 years since it started up changed it’s look, feel and location numerous times!
The school is today situated in the interesting neighbourhood of Fredensborg, door to door with the ever growing co-workingspace 657, which is the home to some of Oslo (and Norways!) most exciting startups and companies within the creative industry.

The school’s entrance is almost hidden, but once you notice the sign above the door and realise that the school is situated in a small three story house, you imediately get drawn in. Since the school moved from its last location in Karlstadgata on Grûnerløkka in 2014, 3 teams have used the space well (day & night). This spring is was time to upgrade the rooms a little, preparing them for the next team to start after summer. It got us thinking about what creates good learning environments. What zones does the students, facilitators and the industry specialists that comes to teach at the school need? How might we change the atmosphere in the kitchen that barely gets any natural light, by changing the colour on the walls? Could we create more and smaller work zones for team work?

Want to check out the changes? Take a look at the pictures below or come by for a look around!
